Maple Ridge General
Maple Ridge, British Columbia is a city within Metro Vancouver in the great country of Canada. It is approximately 266.78 square kilometers of beautiful land. Mountains and lowlands grace the region. It has various historical communities within the city, and each one exudes its own cultural pride.
Albion and Webster’s Corner are home to many Finnish families. They settled there many years ago, and they still call these two neighborhoods home to this very day. Port Hammond has small cottage-like mills scattered throughout the area. Built many years ago, these homes gave the mill workers a place to live. Ruskin is another region within Maple Ridge. Ruskin has a community hall created by the Sons of Norway. The history is abundant in this area. Speaking of heritage, Port Haney houses many old buildings that have been transported here for preservation and enjoyment.
The Ridge, as the locals call Maple Ridge, is a great city. The educational system is top-notch. Many schools within the district offer state of the art programs to its students. For example, there is a cyber-school curriculum in which a couple of days a week the kids can complete their assignments from home. The other days they go to a regular brick and mortar school. This prepares the children for the future, as there are more and more careers where you can work remotely. Another great program is the equestrian academy where the children are able to complete their studies along with engaging with their passion. It’s not just horses, either. Sports are prominent in this area too. People play various sports to bide their time, like golf, hockey, and baseball. In fact, a couple of legendary athletes hail from Maple Ridge. Major League Baseball player, Larry Walker, calls this beautiful place home. Former racecar driver, Greg Moore, was also from the Ridge. Multiple hockey players had their start from this British Columbian town.
