High Performance laneway house

WE BUILD high performance

BEYOND THE STANDARD

Getting Ready for Net Zero

The BC Energy Step Code came into force in April 2017. Currently, local municipalities have the authority to require new builders to meet one or more steps. In the next 10 years new homes will need to be built better than the current BC Building Code and what to expect:

  • 20 per cent more energy efficient by 2022
  • 40 per cent more energy efficient by 2027
  • 80 per cent more energy efficient by 2032 which is considered net-zero energy ready standard

silvercrest is prepared to achieve net zero Builds

Although there are many differences between the passive house and net-zero home standards, the end goal is nearly the same – to use as little energy as possible on a net basis. High performance homes constructed by Silvercrest focus on sound building principles – centred on climate specific practices at the core of our mission,  health, durability, resilience and energy efficiency.

what is a high performance laneway house

A high-performance laneway  house is built to be very energy efficient, so efficient in fact that a renewable energy system can offset all or most of its annual energy consumption.

BUILDING FOR GENERATIONS

OUR BUILDINGS ARE

  • TYPICAL HIGH PERFORMANCE WALLS WITH R-38
  • TYPICAL ROOF STRUCTURES WITH R-50
  • FEWER DRAFTS
  • REDUCED HEAT LOSS
  • LOWER POSSIBILITY OF MOISTURE DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING ENVELOP
  • REDUCED HEAT LOSS
  • ELIMINATE DAMAGE FROM CONDENSATION WITH HIGHER INTERIOR SURFACE TEMPERATURE IN COLD CLIMATES
  • SUPER INSULATED UNDER SLAB INSULATION
  • ADD MORE ENERGY TO THE HOUSE THAN WOULD OTHERWISE LOST
  • WINDOWS ARE ORIENTATED TO CAPTURE LOW WINDER SUN
  • SYSTEM PROVIDES FRESH CLEAN FILTERED AIR
  • REDUCES LOSS OF HEAT IN WINDER
  • HELPS CONTROL HUMIDITY (HRV/ERV)

OUR wall STRUCTURE

Silvercrest standard high performance wall typically start at an R-38 rating or higher to meet Passive House standards

Our panel system is pre-designed and built off-site prior to delivery to the construction site.  Once delivered it will take 1 week to be ready for roofing instal
